VANCOUVER, B.C. (Wireless Flash) – Zits aren’t pretty but they are pretty important to history. In fact, according to the new book, Bathroom Stuff (Sourcebooks), pimple medications have been around since the dawn of time. Teenagers in ancient Egypt used to rub their pimply faces with a mixture of milk, olive oil, ostrich eggs and bull’s bile; while the ancient Romans preferred a paste of barley flour and butter. Other offbeat acne cures... In the 1400s, the French version of Clearasil was made with goat’s milk and asparagus roots aged in warm horse poop. And, in the 1700s, one British surgeon treated acne by placing leeches on each pimple.
