DON’T LET YOUR KID BECOME AN EASTER BASKET CASE

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash) – The contents of your kid’s Easter basket could turn him or her into a real basket case. According to food allergy specialist Dr. Ellen Cutler, the food dyes in traditional Easter candies can cause your kids to have tantrums and crying fits because the dye can not be metabolized completely in the body. She says jelly beans are the worst culprit for causing fits because they have the most dye, but gummy bears are pretty bad too. To prevent your kids from becoming Easter basket cases, Dr. Cutler recommends parents limit the amount of candy their kids eat or stick to the old standby of chocolate Easter bunnies – which don’t contain the dreaded food colorings. Dr. Cutler is the author of The Food Allergy Cure (Random House Harmony Books).
