A BETTER WAY TO VOTE FOR PRESIDENT

PRINCETON, N.J. (Wireless Flash) -- A mathematician in New Jersey has devised a way to prevent election messes like last year's Florida recount. Warren D. Smith ran computer simulations of 20 voting methods and claims something called "Range Voting" is the fairest way to elect officials. Instead of choosing one winner, voters who use Range Voting rank each candidate using a numerical scale. Smith says his calculations indicate Range Voting would be better for society than current systems because it allows folks to feel they voted more honestly. Interestingly, he says if the new method had been used in last year's presidential election, Al Gore would have won instead of George Bush.
