PUPPIES ARE REAL PARTY POOPERS

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Wireless Flash) -- While New Year's Eve partygoers are out whooping it up this year, their new puppies may be pooping it up around the house. That's because puppies given as Christmas presents and left alone for the first time on New Year's Eve are likely to suffer from separation anxiety. Animal behaviorist Peter Borchelt says the anxiety can cause new doggies to defecate, whine and chew up furniture. Borchelt says gift dogs should be left alone gradually, until their anxiety goes away. In the meantime, though, he recommends owners hire a puppy sitter to stay on poop patrol during New Year's Eve.
