AMERICANS TO CONSUME 537 BILLION CALORIES ON CHRISTMAS

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) -- Christmas will be a gut-busting time for Americans. According to New York-based nutritionist Lael Edelstein, Americans will consume a combined 537 billion calories on December 25 -- and will probably gain 5 to 7 pounds as a result. Although most folks won't do much to burn off the extra lard, Edelstein says if the calories are converted to energy, it would supply enough fuel to power Santa Claus' sleigh around the world 180 million times. All those calories could also supply enough electrical power to light up New York City for five days; 31,000 Trinity atomic bomb tests or make 6.6 billion pounds of man-made snow.
