PRESIDENTIAL NICKNAMES THROUGHOUT THE AGES

FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. (Wireless Flash) -- Almost-president- elect George W. Bush should feel lucky his nickname is "Dubya." It could be a lot worse. Popular culture expert Stephen Spignesi claims some U.S. presidents have had horrible nicknames, including second Prez John Adams, whose plumpness earned him the nickname "Mr. Rotundity." Then there's Grover Cleveland, who was called "Big Beefhead" and "The Dumb Prophet." -- Chester A. Arthur was known as "The Dude." -- And, finally, Richard Nixon was called "The Iron Butt" and "Gloomy Gus" behind his back. Spignesi is the author of a new book, "The U.S.A. Book of Lists" (New Page Books).
