JERRY GARCIA GETS A CELTIC SPIN

BERKELEY, Calif (Wireless Flash) -- It apparently takes more than the luck of the Irish to raise Jerry Garcia from the dead, it also takes a Celtic band to cover his music. A folk band known as Wake the Dead has just released a CD that mixes traditional Irish music with songs by The Grateful Dead. It sounds like a far-out idea, but vocalist Danny Camahan says he and fellow band member Paul Kotapish came up with the idea separately -- and, no, they weren't stoned at the time. Camahan says he hopes the combination of Garcia's melodic music and the Celtic folk sound will turn on many non-dead heads, and claims you don't have to be stoned to enjoy it.
