BOB BARKER: `GAME SHOWS IMPROVE RACE RELATIONS'

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (Wireless Flash) -- You probably associate Bob Barker with "The Price Is Right" more than civil rights, but the 76-year-old TV celebrity will be discussing the impact of game shows on American culture at Harvard Law School later today (Oct. 23). Barker says shows like "Truth Or Consequences" and "The Price Is Right" were multi-cultural long before dramas and sit-coms and they gave many white Americans their first glimpses of people of color. Although race relations still need improvement, he says he believes game shows deserve some credit for making things better because they emphasize our similarities, not our differences.
