ARMY GRUNTS' UNIFORMS TO INSPIRE BERET REVIVAL

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) -- "Oo la la" -- a men's fashion expert says the beret is poised to make a comeback. Jack Herschlag of the National Association of Men's Sportswear Buyers says the U.S. Army's recent announcement that soldiers will switch to black berets as basic headgear will influence stylish civilians to don the rakish caps. The Army grunts will debut their new look next June, and Herschlag predicts soon afterward many men will start wearing berets as part of their everyday outfits. He claims the berets will give the Army a much needed dash of fashion panache, but he hopes officials will add black accents to the uniform to match the new berets -- otherwise the end result could look "raggedy." Meanwhile, an Army spokesman says he's "99.9 percent sure" there will be no other changes to the uniform.
