STUDY GIVES STRAIGHT POOP ON OLESTRA

OMAHA, Neb. (Wireless Flash) -- Here's the straight poop on that fake fat olestra: A new study shows it may actually help people with heart disease. The study by researchers at the University of Nebraska compared folks who ate banana muffins made with fatty shortening to those who ate banana muffins using olestra. Dr. Samuel Mehr says the olestra eaters had 12 percent more blood flow to the heart than the fat eaters, which means their heart was better nourished. The study also revealed none of the olestra-eaters reported any of the alleged gastro-intestinal side effects from eating the fake fat -- such as diarrhea.
