GORE STAFF DOGS PET QUESTIONS

NASHVILLE (Wireless Flash) -- Al Gore may love talking policy but his campaign staff is being accused of pussyfooting around questions concerning his pets. Several journalists are griping that Gore's campaign staff refuses to answer questions about his pets and are repeatedly being told: "Can't answer that -- it's background." Gore officials did reveal the names of the vice president's pets to Wireless Flash News -- but only after being promised they wouldn't be quoted as the source. Staffers for George W. Bush have been more cooperative with the media and have had no problem revealing the names of Bush's three pet sheep. Bush spokesman Ray Sullivan says the Gore staff's coyness is relevant because it suggests they fear contradicting the candidate or are just too "bureaucratic" to give answers in a timely manner.
