MEET THE WORLD'S FIRST JAPANESE MARIACHI

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- A 30-year-old Japanese woman named "Junko" is the missing link between tacos and Tokyo. That's because Junko is the world's first -- and possibly only -- Japanese mariachi singer. The "Sukiyaki Mariachi" discovered the music seven years ago while performing at Disney World and has been singing the Mexican folk tunes ever since. Junko admits mastering the "ai ai ai" sounds prevalent in mariachi took practice, but it was harder getting used to the heavy costumes. Although she's been asked to perform mariachi in Japanese, she says she has no plans to commit cross-cultural hari-kari because she wants to stay "authentic to the traditional music."
