OUT OF THIS WORLD MUSIC: SPACE SOUNDS

PHOENIX, Ariz. (Wireless Flash) -- If you think it's silent in outer space, think again. In fact, there's a musician in Phoenix who's making music out of the sounds of space. Harold Grandstaff Moses says every heavenly body in the universe makes a unique sound because of the vibrations it gives off. For example, he says Earth hums because of its magnetic core and Mars pulses with an erie dark beat, while Uranus rings like a Tibetan bowl. To make his music, Moses picks up spacy sounds from recordings made by NASA, then combines them with live instruments and choir singers.
