CAN SLEEPING HORIZONTALLY CAUSE GLAUCOMA?

HILO, Hawaii (Wireless Flash) -- Here's some eye-popping news: Sleeping horizontally can cause glaucoma. That's according to medical anthropologist Sydney Singer who claims lying down when you sleep causes fluid to build up in the head which can cause glaucoma. He says you can reduce your risk of glaucoma by sleeping at a 30 degree incline with your head elevated. Singer says his family no longer sleep in beds -- instead they sleep in reclining chairs which position their bodies just right. However, Dr. Neil Choplin, a San Diego-based glaucoma specialist, says lying with your head elevated is "...like chicken soup. It won't hurt but it probably won't help."
