`EXORCIST' RE-RELEASE COULD DRIVE SOME FOLKS OVER THE EDGE

TORONTO (Wireless Flash) -- The current re-release of the 1974 film "The Exorcist" has taken possession of the box offices -- but it could scare up psychiatric problems as well. Toronto-based psychiatrist Dr. Bruce Ballon says he once treated a patient who nearly went crazy after watching "The Exorcist." The disorder even has a name -- "cinematic neurosis" -- and it caused his female patient to believe she was possessed by demons. Dr. Ballon says it's possible the re-release of "The Exorcist" could spawn other cases of cinematic neurosis in people who are pre-disposed to psychiatric problems or have a poor sense of identity.
