ITCHILY EVER AFTER: WEDDING BAND RASHES

HOUSTON (Wireless Flash) -- Recently-married couples may find themselves living "itchily ever after" thanks to their wedding bands. According to Baylor College of Medicine dermatologist Rajani Katta, it's quite common for married folks to get patchy red rashes from their wedding rings. Dr. Katta says most wedding rings contain nickel -- the most common cause of jewelry rashes. You're more likely to break out in the ring rash if you wash your hands too often, which can break down the skin and allow the nickel to penetrate. The dermatologist suggests "wedding ring rash" sufferers remove their rings long enough to allow the rash to clear. But if the itchy red patches persist, he says a few coats of clear nail polish applied to the inside of the ring will prevent any further outbreaks.
