LIZZIE BORDEN'S HOME TOWN HAS NO AXE TO GRIND

FALL RIVER, Mass. (Wireless Flash) -- Tomorrow (July 19) marks the 140th anniversary of the birth of alleged ax murderer Lizzie Borden. Although she was acquitted of killing her parents, Borden lives on in the gory poem: "Lizzie Borden took an ax, Gave her mother 40 whacks. When she saw what she had done, she gave her father 41." These days, Lizzie's hometown of Fall River, Massachusetts, has no ax to grind. In fact, the possible murderess is big business for the burg according to Martha McGinn, owner of the Lizzie Borden Bed & Breakfast. The B&B is located in the same home where the murders occurred and, surprisingly, law enforcement officials are the guests most eager to sleep in the room where the murders took place. Anyone expecting to be scared by Lizzie's ghost should ax that idea. McGinn says other than some spooky footsteps and an occasional door knock, the house has little paranormal activity.
