THESE BOOTS WERE MADE FOR WALKMANS

FAIRFORD, England (Wireless Flash) -- An experimental shoe that converts human energy into electrical power may be stepping into stores in the near future. The shoes are being developed by a British firm and will provide enough energy to charge a cell phone battery, a flashlight or even a Walkman. A spokesman for the Electric Shoe Company says a prototype of the device was recently used to make a cell phone call during a 100-mile trek across a remote stretch of Africa. Although the energy-converting shoes will be able to power all sorts of electronic gizmos, it's doubtful they'll ever generate enough energy to heat your home or run a blow dryer.
