WILL `CHICKEN RUN' KEEP KIDS FROM EATING POULTRY?

NORFOLK, Va. (Wireless Flash) -- Animal activists are giving a "wings up" to the new poultry-in-peril flick, "Chicken Run." People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), is hoping the movie's depiction of chickens as intelligent creatures will discourage children from chowing down on poultry. The activist group is also clucking in pleasure over a new "Chicken Run" ad campaign by Burger King that features the stars of the movie urging people to eat hamburgers instead of chicken sandwiches. Spokeswoman Colleen O'Brien says even though PETA doesn't support eating meat, it's much less cruel to eat a cow -- which can feed many people -- than a tiny chicken which can only feed one person. In her words, "More suffering goes into a chicken sandwich than into a Whopper."
