SPEED RACER'S STAR SPILLS SECRET OF BREATHLESS VOCALS

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- Ever wonder why the characters on "Speed Racer" speak so breathlessly? Well, the woman who provided the voices of Trixie, Spreidel and Chim-Chim blames the speedy delivery on the original Japanese scripts. Voice-over artist Corinne Orr says dubbing the show was difficult because the Japanese "Speed Racer" characters spoke in very long sentences. As a result, the show's American writers were forced to write long sentences to fit the Japanese mouth movement and the actors were instructed to read their lines as fast as possible. By the way, a replica of Speed Racer's Mach 5 auto is currently being auctioned off on eBaymotors.com to benefit the Child Safety Network. Orr and Peter Fernandez, the voice of Speed Racer, will deliver the car to the winning bidder.
