`DOLEMITE' VS. `SHAFT' -- ROUND II

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- Shaft isn't the only icon from the "blaxploitation" era making a comeback: kung fu rapper Dolemite will soon be gracing the silver screen as well. Screenwriter Jerry Jones -- who wrote the original "Dolemite" script in 1975 -- has just finished "Dolemite 2000," which follows the further adventures of the rhyming crime fighter played by Rudy Ray Moore. The new flick will be filled with the same things that made it a classic in the 1970s -- rhyming dialogue, big action sequences and Dolemite's crew of kung fu-fighting foxy ladies. Jones admits the new flick has a much-lower budget than the new "Shaft" starring Samuel L. Jackson, but he still hopes to give "Shaft" a run for its money. "Dolemite 2000" should be in theaters by the end of the year, while the new version of "Shaft" opens this Friday (June 16).
