DOCS RECOMMEND SCREENING WORKERS FOR HANGOVERS

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash) -- First companies started screening employees for drugs and booze -- now, doctors are recommending they screen for hangovers. According to University of California San Francisco professor Dr. Jeffrey Wiese, even though people with hangovers aren't drunk, they have problems with coordination that can increase the chance of on-the-job accidents. In addition, hangovers cost U.S. companies around $148 billion a year in sick wages paid. Wiese says hangovers are more serious than most people think, and screenings in the workplace and the doctor's office may help. He discusses the problems with hangovers in the latest issue of "Annals Of Internal Medicine."
