ANTENNA GIVES SEARS TOWER EDGE IN TALL BUILDING RACE

CHICAGO (Wireless Flash) -- It's no tall tale: The Sears Tower in Chicago is now the tallest building in the world in three out of four categories. On Sunday, a 22-foot-tall antenna extension was added to the top of the Sears Tower, bringing the total height to 1730 feet from ground to antenna. The antenna add-on beats the previous record holder, the World Trade Center, by two feet. According to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, the Sears Tower also has the highest rooftop in the world -- 1450 feet -- and the highest occupied floor at 1431 feet. However, the 1483-foot-tall Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur still holds the height records for tallest architectural structure thanks to its 111-foot spires.
