INTERNET DISC JOCKEY FORCED TO PAY FOR LISTENERS

WHITTIER, Calif. (Wireless Flash) -- Despite all the hoopla, it seems no one is listening to internet radio. In fact, listeners are such short supply that one online talk show host has resorted to paying people to listen to him. Chris Lawler -- who hosts a talk show on adrenalineradio.com -- admits he's had no callers until a few weeks ago when he offered to pay $50 to anyone who would call him. Lawler received two calls -- including one from his daughter. He says that's when he realized he was onto something but would go broke if he didn't reduce the payout. Now he's paying $10 per caller and lately he's been averaging three callers a show. Although the payments are depleting his kids' college fund, he says he doesn't mind as long as it results in good radio.
