RAILWAY KILLER INCREASED PROFILE OF HOBOS

NISSWA, Minn. (Wireless Flash) -- Although convicted "railway killer" Angel Resendiz has been found guilty of murder, he's managed to bring new life to the hobo movement. National Hobo Association president Buzz Potter describes Resendiz as a "train-riding lunatic," but he says the murder spree did gave hobos their highest profile in decades. However, most of Potter's media interviews were spent explaining the difference between hobos, the homeless and plain old derelicts. Another problem is many old-time hobos are dying out and being replaced by "flintstones," young people with piercings and purple hair. Potter says real hobos have no respect for "flintstones" because they booze it up on trains which is a dangerous place to get drunk. He says the real heirs to the hobo tradition are the senior citizens who now drive recreational vehicles across the country.
