MENA SUVARI: CHILDHOOD BUDDIES WITH DEAD SLAVE

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- "American Beauty" actress Mena Suvari has a fan in the afterworld: The ghost of a dead American slave named "Ted." It seems that when Mena was younger, she lived in a haunted mansion in Newport, Rhode Island, where she frequently saw ghostly carriages and bizarre apparitions. She tells the upcoming "Movieline" magazine that her favorite phantom was "Ted," a runaway slave who was killed by hunting dogs in the late 1800s. She claims Ted was a nice guy who even grabbed her hand and led her to safety when all the lights went out in the house one evening. Although Mena still believes in ghosts, she hasn't seen Ted ever since her parents moved from the haunted mansion.
