AWFUL PUN CONTEST TO TAKE PLACE THIS `PUN-DAY'

AUSTIN, Tex. (Wireless Flash) -- The folks in Austin, Texas, will be "punning at the mouth" this "Punday" (May 7) when the 23rd Annual World Championship of Awful Pun Telling gets underway. Around 30 punsters ranging in age from 18 to 70 are expected to "puntificate" on their favorite puns. They'll face off against each other and be given five seconds to come up with a pun based on topics such as "food," "cars," or "body parts." No pun can be repeated and hemming and hawing is strictly forbidden. Nevertheless, some preeminent punsters can last 20 minutes before "punning on empty." The judges will rank the punsters on the rankness of their puns with the worst punster receiving a trophy shaped like a horse's rear end.
