WINK MARTINDALE PREDICTS GAME SHOW HOST SHORTAGE

CALABASAS, Calif. (Wireless Flash) -- Game shows may be at their most popular level in years but famed host Wink Martindale fears a potential shortage of good hosts looms on the horizon. The 65-year-old Martindale says most early game show hosts learned their skills by working in radio before they stepped in front of a camera. But these days most radio stations are owned by corporate conglomerates that don't allow young people an opportunity to hone their game show hosting skills. Although MTV is one potential training ground for future game show hosts, Martindale says he hopes college radio and the internet will pick up the slack because -- as he puts it -- "Being a game show host is an honorable way to make a living." Martindale has just released his autobiography, "Winking At Life" (Century Hill Books).
