SKEPTIC TAKES SHOT AT AURA PHOTOGRAPHY

AMHERST, N.Y. (Wireless Flash) -- A well-known skeptic is taking shots at aura photography -- and it's not a pretty picture. Some New Agers swear by so-called "aura portraits" which supposedly reveal colorful energy fields surrounding the human body -- but Joe Nickell of "Skeptical Inquirer" magazine says the theory is ridiculous. Nickell says there's no proof auras exist and any colors that appear on a "aura photograph" are caused by a device that measures skin resistance and turns it into colors inside the camera. In fact, when Nickell had his own aura portrait done, the photographer warned him dirty thoughts would turn the aura bright crimson. He says he thought about sex in the interest of science, but his aura was blue and green, not raunchy red.
