FLIGHT ATTENDANTS TO PROTEST IN HARD HATS

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Wireless Flash) -- If you're flying this Friday (Apr. 28), don't be surprised if your flight attendant offers you a hard hat. Flight attendants in Atlanta, Chicago, Seattle and Los Angeles will be wearing hard hats to protest what they claim are dangerous working conditions. Cynthia Kain of the Association of Flight Attendants claims airline employees risk repeated head and neck injuries caused by falling carry-on bags. It's estimated nearly 15 percent of airline employees suffered some type of on-the-job injury in 1998, compared to only 8 percent of construction workers and 5 percent of miners. Kain says the flight attendants hope the hard hats will make passengers aware of the hidden dangers aboard airplanes.
