MAN BEHIND `THE CHEATER' PERFORMING AT SINGLES FUNCTIONS

CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (Wireless Flash) -- Remember the 1966 hit, "The Cheater," which warned people to "Watch out for the cheater, before he builds you up just to let you down!" Well, ironically, Bob Kuban -- who recorded the song with the In- Men -- now performs it at, of all places, singles functions in St. Louis, Missouri. 58-year-old Kuban admits playing "The Cheater" at singles dances is ironic, but it hasn't deterred anyone yet. He admits he's still haunted by "The Cheater" because the group's lead singer, Walter Scott, was murdered in 1983 by his wife's lover just days before he and Kuban were to reunite the band. These days, when Kuban's not playing "The Cheater," his band, the Bob Kuban Brass, performs regularly at the St. Louis Cardinals baseball games.
