STUDY: MASSAGE REDUCES PAIN OF ROOT CANALS

CLEVELAND (Wireless Flash) -- A new study suggests a little pampering can reduce the amount of pain felt by root canal patients. The study from Case Western Reserve University reveals patients perceive less pain in their teeth when they're placed on a massaging pillow or given a gel-filled eye mask to wear. Patients exposed to the pillow or eye mask also felt more relaxed and had lower blood pressure than those who had no pampering perks. Root canal specialist Andre K. Mickel says the research is good news for anxious people and he predicts the anti-stress techniques could become common in dental offices.
