VEGETARIAN WOLF CHOMPS CARROTS INSTEAD OF CRITTERS

PETERSBURG, N.J. (Wireless Flash) -- The phrase "hungry like the wolf" has a new meaning thanks to a vegetarian pet wolf who prefers chomping carrots, not critters. Animal activist Linda Genteel feeds the 3-year-old male wolf hybrid nothing but beans, rice and veggies and says her pet is living proof that wolves don't need to eat meat to stay healthy. But some animal experts wonder if wolves should be on such a strict veggie diet. Veterinary nutritionist Dr. Craig Thatcher says even though wolves are omnivorous, it's hard to create a homemade vegetarian diet that has enough vitamins and minerals. He says an unbalanced diet can lead to health problems and, in some cases, even kill the animal.
