MODERN-DAY MOTHER GOOSE SANITIZING OLD NURSERY RHYMES

CLEARWATER, Fla. (Wireless Flash) -- War, murder and child abuse aren't suitable topics for kids -- unless you're reading nursery rhymes. That's the complaint of self-proclaimed "modern day Mother Goose" Elyse Aronson, who's on a one-woman mission to clean-up politically incorrect nursery rhymes. Aronson -- who goes by the name `Mz. Goose' -- claims the average book of nursery rhymes contains 21 deaths, 23 violent acts and 8 mentions of murder. She hopes to nurse kids off the negative nursery rhymes with a new book, "Mz. Goose And Her Wonderful Rhymes" (Good Things Inc.). Instead of poems about Humpty Dumpty falling to his death, her stories are more positive with lines like, "Cats are black/ Cats aren't blue/ They're yellow and white/ and calico too!" Aronson hopes her rhymes will eventually become as popular as the original Mother Goose stories.
