PAT BOONE TO HELP RICK ASTLEY MAKE A COMEBACK?

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- Not much has been heard from singer Rick Astley in nearly 10 years, but he could pull a Tony Bennett-like comeback if crooner Pat Boone has his way. Boone and his record company is conducting a worldwide search for crooners to carry on in the tradition of singers like Bing Crosby, and he thinks the 34-year-old Astley has what it takes. Although Astley is best-known for "Never Gonna Give You Up" and "Together Forever," Boone claims those songs just don't do justice to his abilities. Astley wasn't available for comment, but rumors are swirling in England that the singer decided to cancel a planned comeback tour because he wasn't sure how the public would react. If you think you have what it takes to be the next Bing Crosby, you can send an audition tape to Pat Boone at Crooners Contest, The Gold Label, PO Box 23468, Nashville, TN, 37202.
