VALENTINE'S DAY SEES RISE IN BATTERED HUSBANDS

RANCHO BERNARDO, Calif. (Wireless Flash) -- Valentine's Day could be a painful experience for many men -- literally. Researchers say the number of battered husbands rises dramatically on Valentine's Day partly because some wives aren't too thrilled with their hubby's choice of presents. According to psychologist Nancy Fagen, some men suffer broken bones, black eyes and even strange "splatter bruises" caused by boxes of chocolates being thrown at full force. Dr. Fagen says men can reduce their odds of becoming a punching bag on Valentine's Day by serving their lover a glass of calming chamomile tea and playing Kenny G. albums on the stereo, which has been scientifically proven to mellow out most women. Fagen is the author of "The Complete Idiot's Guide To Romance" (MacMillan).
