GROUNDHOGS CALLED DARN GOOD EATIN'

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (Wireless Flash) -- Next Tuesday is Groundhog Day but Punxatawney Phil may want to stay in his burrow -- or he could wind up in a stock pot. It seems baked or fried groundhog makes for a tasty dish, according to self-professed groundhog gourmet Tom Squier. The North Carolina writer claims the weather-predicting critters taste great when stuffed with garlic and onions, fried in canola oil and served with a nice Burgundy wine. Unfortunately, Squier won't be able to chow down on any groundhog until late spring because most of the critters are hibernating. Since you can't buy groundhog at the supermarket, Squier says a shotgun is the best way to bag one -- although he some folks prefer to cook with groundhogs killed by passing cars.
