GIVING THE FINGER IS GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (Wireless Flash) -- Here's a good excuse for bad manners: flipping the middle finger actually has health benefits. According to yoga expert Sabrina Mesko, your hands are the energy center of your body, so moving them in different positions -- called "mudras" -- can help relieve a variety of ailments. Mesko claims using your middle finger and hand to "flip the bird" can release negative energy and lighten your mood when you're angry. Other common finger gestures with positive health effects include the peace sign, which generates feelings of love, and pointing your finger at someone, which is a protective gesture that makes you feel safe. Mesko is the author of the upcoming book "Healing Mudras: Yoga For Your Hands" (Ballantine).
