WAYNE NEWTON TAKING CUES FROM SANTANA

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Wireless Flash) -- Wayne Newton is getting ready to make a pop music comeback ala Carlos Santana. Newton is about to head into the studio to record new material and, like Santana, he's invited pop music luminaries to sit in on the sessions. So far, Peabo Bryson, the Dixie Chicks and Ray Charles have agreed and Newton expects more are on the way. The 57-year-old Las Vegas legend admits he'd love to do a duet with Ricky Martin but he hasn't contacted the singer's management yet. The "Wayne Newton And Friends" album will be out later this year -- but it's not the only project on his docket. Newton is also recording an all-country album and a collection of big band classics.
