NOVICE JEWELER CUTS TEETH ON BABY TEETH NECKLACES

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Wireless Flash) -- A novice jeweler has found a novel way to cut her teeth on her craft: she's creating jewelry using baby teeth. Artist Lora Jobe says her inspiration for the toothy creations came about after her children lost their baby teeth. Now the 42-year-old mother of three has turned her toothy tinkering into a cottage industry, making baby teeth necklaces, charms and earrings through her Memphis-based company, Tooth Fairy Designs. Prices range from $40 for a charm made from a single tooth to $400 for a pearl necklace decorated with several baby teeth. Jobe admits her art may sound primitive or barbaric, but she claims the end result is "delicate and elegant."
