FDR'S POOCH VOTED TOP DOG OF 20TH CENTURY

DAYTON, Ohio (Wireless Flash) -- It looks like Americans love Franklin D. Roosevelt's dog as much as they love the late, great president. Pet owners have just voted Roosevelt's black Scottish Terrier, Fala, the "Top Dog of the 20th Century," in a contest sponsored by Iams pet food. The No. 2 dog is a bit more obscure: Togo, a sled dog who was famous in the 1920s. Rounding out the Top 5 are Snoopy, Rin Tin Tin and Lassie. As for the top feline: It's "Scarlett," the mama cat who saved her kittens from a house fire in 1996. The other cats in the Top 5 are, in order: Garfield, Tigger from "Winnie the Pooh," Tweety Bird's nemesis Sylvester and Hobbes from the "Calvin and Hobbes" comic strip.
