SANTA TURNS TRUCKER

SANTA TURNS TRUCKER

CLINTON, Miss (Wireless Flash) -- Santa Claus is trading in his reindeer and sleigh for a Mack truck. A political cartoonist in Clinton, Mississippi, has created a new holiday story titled "Trucker's Night Before Christmas" (Pelican Publishing). In the story, Santa becomes a jeep jockey who delivers presents from the back of his shiny red truck. Cartoonist David R. Davis admits his story sounds like the classic "Night Before Christmas" tale, but it has a few twists... -- Instead of a traditional red suit and fur-trimmed cap, the trucker Santa wears red coveralls and a red baseball cap. -- The road running St. Nick hands out gifts like chain wallets, radar detectors and No-Doz caffeine pills. -- Instead of a belly that shakes like a bowl of jelly, the southern St. Nick has a bulgy build from years of eating junk food. -- And, finally, the jolly old elf signs off on his CB radio by saying "Merry Christmas truck jockeys, see y'all down the road."
