HAIRY COMPETITION EXPECTED AT TARANTULA RACES

HAIRY COMPETITION EXPECTED AT TARANTULA RACES

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- The competition is sure to be hairy at a tarantula race scheduled tomorrow (Nov. 30) in Los Angeles. Students from the Moore Park animal training school will be racing the creepy crawly creatures down a 10-foot track -- a feat experts believe should take anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 minute. The animal-trainers-in-training will get their tarantulas moving by blowing on them through a plastic straw, and the student whose spider wins the race will receive a $500 scholarship. The contest is being held as a promotion for the video release of the Will Smith flick "Wild Wild West," which features a huge mechanical tarantula.
