NEW SPORT: DANCING WITH DOGS

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Wireless Flash) -- Your pet Rover now has something in common with Broadway dancers thanks to a new sport called "Musical Canine Freestyle." The sport requires dogs and their human "handlers" to twirl around a dance floor to the strains of everything from Billy Ray Cyrus' "Achy-Breaky Heart" to "The Macarena." Patie Ventre of the World Canine Freestyle Organization says the bow-wow Barishnikovs tend to be very picky about music. In fact, she knows one doggie dancer who recently refused to move a paw to Britney Spears' "(You Drive Me) Crazy" -- but perked right up when "Fantasy" by Mariah Carey was played. Although Ventre admits dogs rarely dance to hard rock songs by acts like Korn, she says they love grooving to the heavy beats of rap and hip-hop. By the way, the World Canine Freestyle Organization will be holding an international competition December 10 in Boston.
