SHORTWAVE RADIO A SPOOK STOPPER?

NEWPORT, R.I. (Wireless Flash) -- A musician and paranormal researcher in Newport, Rhode Island, thinks he may have found a new way to bust ghosts: shortwave radio. Researcher Steve Cerilli recently conducted an experiment where he set up a shortwave receiver at a local mansion supposedly haunted by ghosts. The receiver was tuned to a blank channel filled with white noise and left on for several hours. Ever since the experiment, the mansion's owners haven't heard a paranormal peep -- and Cerilli thinks the shortwave static may have released the spooky souls and helped them make their way back to the spirit world. However, not everyone is pleased the spirits have flown the coop -- including a spiritual medium who leads ghost tours through the once-haunted home. Virginia Smith says she fears the electronic exorcism may cut down on interest in her tours which include a stop at a "haunted chair" where visitors could once feel the prickly presence of ghosts.
