TIME CHANGE WILL CAUSE CAR CRACK-UPS

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Wireless Flash) -- The end of Daylight Saving time this Sunday (Oct. 31) will be a bad time for motorists. That's according to San Jose State psychology professor Robert A. Hicks, who says traffic accidents typically increase by around four percent in the week immediately following the switch back to standard time. That amounts to almost 350 more accidents and 3 more deaths in the state of California alone. Hicks says the increase comes from all the drivers on the road who are sleepy from the time change -- which he claims has the same effect as bad jet lag. He says the car crack-ups are more likely to happen in urban areas ruled by the clock, and are less likely to affect rural dwellers who are more in tune with the sunrise and sunset.
