CREEPY HALLOWEEN RECIPES ARE GHOULISHLY GOURMET

BOSTON, Mass. (Wireless Flash) -- If you really want to give your guests a fright this Halloween, serve them placenta pate. That's the advice of food writer Jerry Hopkins, author of the new book "Strange Foods" (Tuttle), who says he actually made the dish using placenta from his newborn son. Hopkins says adventurous chefs should first marinate the placenta in red wine for several hours. Next, slice it into strips and combine it with shallots and garlic. Finally, press it into a loaf pan lined with bacon and pastry dough and bake for an hour and a half. Other gross-out dishes just right for your Halloween party include a dip made out of roasted root worm beetles, an entree of pickled lamb tongues and a soup made with either a bull or a deer penis.
