BASEBALL CARD BLOOPERS

BASEBALL CARD BLOOPERS

DALLAS (Wireless Flash) -- It looks like some baseball players are batting zero when it comes to their baseball cards. That's according to baseball card expert Mike Payne, who has just picked his list of the "Top Baseball Card Bloopers of the Century." Topping the list is the 1966 Topps baseball card that's supposed to feature a photo of the Chicago Cubs' Dick Ellsworth - - but it actually shows a player who died two years earlier in a plane crash. Other bloopers include... -- The 1969 card of California Angels Aurelio Rodriguez, which actually pictures the team's batboy. -- Milwaukee Brewers' Kurt Bevacqua appears in a 1976 card blowing a bubble gum bubble that's so big it covers his face. -- And then there's Baltimore Orioles second baseman Billy Ripkin, who appears on a 1989 card with the "f-word" clearly printed on his bat. Payne is the author of the new book "300 Great Baseball Cards of the 20th Century" (Beckett).
