PRISON CANCELS MOCK `WITCH TRIALS' AFTER REAL WITCHES PROTEST

PHILADELPHIA (Wireless Flash) -- A mock Halloween "witch trial" which was scheduled to be held in a Philadelphia prison has been canceled after real-life witches raised a brouhaha. The inactive Eastern State Penitentiary wanted to put on a "modern witch trial" as part of its annual spooky Halloween tours -- but prison officials received a barrage of protests from real- life witches who claim the event is derogatory to their coven. Prison spokesman Sean Kelley says the penitentiary doesn't want to stir up any bubble, bubble, toil and trouble, so the event will now be called a "demon trial." Kelley doesn't expect the witchy controversy to affect the number of tourists expected to attend the fake trial which will start tomorrow night (Oct. 14).
