NEW YEARS SLACKERS: HALF OF AMERICANS WILL RENT VIDEOS DEC. 31ST

DALLAS (Wireless Flash) -- Forget fancy black-tie parties -- the real action this New Years Eve will probably be at your local video store. According to a new survey by Blockbuster video, 49 percent of Americans say they plan on being real couch potatoes this New Years by staying home and renting a video. By comparison, only 22 percent plan to go out and paint the town to ring in the new millennium. It's not the Y2K bug that's keeping folks firmly rooted on their couches December 31st, 1999: 83 percent of the New Years Couch Potatoes say they have no fears about a potential Y2K computer meltdown.
